Sempervivum iranicum

In the stands, Mountains Alborz (or the Alborz Mountains, not to be confused with Elbrus in the Caucasus) in Iran, north of Tehran, is the absolute limit of the range of the genus Sempervivum. The subgenus Jovibarba is completely absent from Iran and throughout the Asian side of the area. The genus Sempervivum
is very poorly known in this area, both with respect to its exact distribution and the species that constitute it.
in Alborz, there is only one species, which is morphologically close to S. tectorum, with a thin, hairy and red flower variable S. iranicum Gauba Bornmüller and the representative of Feddes. XLIX: 257-258, tab.329a (1940). This species is probably related more or less with the red flower Sempervivum Caucasian group of S. Caucasicum.
Iran in Azerbaijan is also a hairy and yellow flower, a species probably related to the Anatolian and Transcaucasian group width S. transcaucasicum S. atropatanum J. Parn, in Willdenowia, 18 (2): 419 (1989). This "species" is even worse than the previous known.
